After a rainy day last month forced us to reschedule, I finally got to meet this family last weekend for our much-anticipated photo session at the University of Richmond. Baby D was nearly 13 months old, and showed off his newly acquired walking skills with confidence. He was very steady on those little feet!

I love to shoot outdoor sessions at this time of year, especially when a family has a specific connection to their chosen spot. Both of D’s parents attended the University of Richmond, so it was the perfect place to meet for family portraits.

Since some technical difficulties kept me from posting this sneak peek last night, let’s get right to the point and see some photos, eh?

As I said a few posts ago, it’s so much fun to watch my clients grow up. This adorable boy was my very first client several years ago, and now I have the pleasure of photographing his baby sister as well. At the end of our session, my little friend got some candy for being such a good model… and I got a big hug. I think I got the better end of that deal!

Here’s just a few…

kristin: You NEED to come take our pictures! Can't believe how great everything looks.

Rashmi: Gorgeous kiddos!!! The one of the two of them together is so precious!

admin: Thank you! Ha ha I just realized that big bro has a bright green blade of grass in his hair on the last one... oops... will be revisiting that one in Photoshop. ;)

Beth: Aww - what precious kiddos! Great work - the one of the two of them together is perfection :o)

I don’t know how I get so lucky, but I get the best clients ever. I really do. And this family was no exception. Brand new parents with a six-day-old baby girl, yet they were incredibly laid-back… and adorable, right??

Enjoy this handful of photos from Baby A’s session.

Rashmi: So beautiful Stacey!! I love the photo on the bed where the parents are looking at baby.. and i know its a small detail but i think what makes the photo is that you can see their wedding bands and that dad is touching baby's cheek. Perfect.

Edith: Stacey, I just wanted to say how beautiful you made my cousin, her husband and their gorgeous daughter look. Thank you. I'm sure they appreciate it.

tisha: So sweet!!! I love these!!

Jane Photo: These are lovely, Stacey. I particularly love the devotion on the parents' faces.

marta: Hon these are precious!! The foot one is to die for!

Agustin Tornabene: My cousin is beautiful and sweet!!!!! she is so little, I can´t wait to meet you Ana!!! Love you Agus and Love Billy and Mandy!!

admin: Thanks for all of the lovely comments, everyone!

This was my second visit to this family’s home, the first being back in September to shoot Baby H’s newborn session. Look how he’s grown! He still has the same adorable furrowed brow and pinch-able cheeks… and I don’t think it’s possible that Big Brother J could be any cuter. Love them!!

Going back to photograph the same kids/families over the months and years is so much fun for me (and hopefully for them, too). I already feel incredibly lucky to be able to capture special moments in the lives of my clients, but to watch these kids grow is even more rewarding.

Here’s a small sampling of proofs from our session…

(And P.S. - yes, the photos are a bit less wide now… I realized that the photos were previously too wide for those of you with smaller screens. This size seems like a good compromise.)

A Week in California…

April 17, 2009

How is it possible that I’m ALREADY a bad blogger? Leave it to me to slack off so quickly. In my defense, both of my kids recently had strep AND my little one came down with RSV. Then we were off for a week-long vacation in San Francisco. We had a great time, so I thought I’d update my blog with some photos from our trip. I was not in pro photographer mode, I was in tourist mode… but I hope you’ll enjoy them anyway.

My younger daughter, Ellie, on the first leg of the flight.

We took the kids to Pier 39, where we checked out the aquarium and rode the boat that takes you under the Golden Gate bridge and past Alcatraz (I will spare you those photos, since there were about a hundred people fighting for the prime photo-taking spots).

It was a long day… even Maya was exhausted.

There are some… umm… interesting things to see at the Embarcadero!

Nap. NOW.

img_8841-edit

We are still recovering from the trip, which means that I have no business being up at 12:44am posting these photos. Off to bed I go… I’ll post again soon with some session photos!

liz latty: yay! babies on bart! the pictures are fabulous stacey - u are so talented:)

Stephanie: Looks like you guys had a fabulous time, Stace! :-)

tisha: OMG!! Could these be any cuter? The last one has my heart though! Do you know my kids wouldn't sleep anywhere but the car seat or the bed? I have one lonely picture of Haley at the age of 5 asleep on the floor :-) Glad to have you back!!

Shannon: These are so cute! Love the one of Ellie checking out the menu & the nap! Lol!

Ok, kids… here it goes.  I had this blog set up for me a while ago, but it’s been sitting here empty & neglected for nearly a month now.  I’m going to get the ball rolling by posting a recent session right now, and I’ll aim to post once per week in the future.  Feel free to use the link above to subscribe, either by RSS feed or by email alerts (I promise you will not get spammed).  If you have a blog you’d like me to subscribe to, let me know.  I’m new to this whole blogging thing, but would love to see what you’re up to.

And now, back to what you are probably here to see - baby photos!  Meet newborn baby J (who was originally named baby D, but that’s neither here nor there).  He was just nine days old here, and couldn’t have been sweeter.  Just like big sister C, whose newborn photos I took way back in October ‘06.

Enjoy!

And here’s J’s super-sweet and super-proud big sister:

I’ve always loved those little dimples in babies’ hands… my 13-month-old still has them, I really need to photograph them before they’re gone.

img_7686_blog

And, we’ll end my very first post with a shot of Baby J and his gorgeous mom:

img_7691bw_blog

I hope you all enjoyed these.  Stay tuned for more sweet newborns, adorable kids and fun families.  Until then…

tisha: I am so proud of you!!!! You are officially a blogger :-) Great session!! What a beautiful baby :-)

Katie: yea! hooray for blogging! The pictures are awesome and this is a great way to keep in touch. great job =) I too have a blog: http://katiejustsayin.blogspot.com

Suzanna: Beautiful website Stacey!

Jennifer Chaney: These are so sweet! I LOVE the foot and belly picture... such a great angle. Congrats on getting your blog up! One more thing to keep you in front of the computer, right?

Michelle Croson: these are GORGEOUS!! Love that first one!
